ANNOUNCEMENT: Hall of Fame Challenge Series XVI
By NobleZarkon at 2015-06-01 05:25
ImageThe Hall of Fame Team would like to welcome new players, and welcome back old vets, to the Sixteenth running of the Civfanatics Civ IV Hall of Fame Challenge Series.

HOF Challenge XV was a successful and competitive installment of the series, won by aitkensam. HOF Challenge XVI is a collection of 10 games with a time limit of 6 months to complete them (from the 30th May 2015 to 25th November 2015). The games are designed to be more defined than the usual gauntlet games and challenging in a different way than a general Hall of Fame game, yet far from impossible to complete.

The winner will be the person who finishes the most games and collects the most points along the way (10 for 1st in each individual game, down to 1 for 10th). Progress results for all games can be found here. There are individual threads for each game in the Challenge Series forum so head on over and check it out.

For those unfamiliar with the CFC Hall of Fame (HOF), we encourage you to try the challenge as a way of introducing yourself to the HOF. The Challenge series is just one feature of the HOF. A Gauntlet series of games is run monthly. In addition you can simply submit any of your games to the HOF. All valid games are recorded to a database and ranked under various categories. The HOF enables you to compare your progress against other HOFers over all time or simply track your own progress. In other words, the HOF is as competitive as you want it to be.

In addition, the CFC HOF offers two ongoing challenge/achievements called the Quatromasters and Elite Quatromasters which can be found here. All valid game submissions to the HOF apply toward your progress of these long-term achievements. Are you up for the challenge!

All of the games need to be played using version 3 of the BUFFY mod (BUFFY-3.19.003 or BUFFY-3.19.003s), found here. Standard Hall of Fame Rules apply to all games.

PolyCast Cut! Episode 17: "A Little Bit More Coherent"
By DanQ at 2015-05-30 14:52
Image The Civilization strategy-centric podcast PolyCast (PC) is currently in its ninth season and nearing its two-hundred-and-thirtieth episode. A year ago this month, the first release of an edition in its "Cut!" side series in more than four years was published; now, to mark that occasion its next episode has been released. During, and only during, the first season of PC was "Cut!" in production serving as a compilation of cut moments from episode recordings: at 23m53s, this is the companion to Episode 17 recorded almost eight years ago.

Featuring three of the four original regular co-hosts Daniel "DanQ" Quick, Wouter "Locutus" Snijders and "Makahlua", it was the second appearance for guest co-host Rich "Provost Harrison" Harrison and the first for Joe "snoopy369" Matise. Much of the conversation extends the conversation on a Civilization III modification focusing on early Canadian history.

Beginning on October 2006, PolyCast has been a bi-weekly audio production in an ongoing effort to give the Civ community an interactive voice on game strategy; since 2011, its has been recorded live before a listening audience every other Saturday. Listeners are encouraged to follow the show on Twitter, and check out the YouTube channel for caption capability. Its two-hundred-and-twenty-ninth episode is set to be released on June 06th, 2015.

One More Turn Season 2 Commentary
By DanQ at 2015-05-27 16:34
Image Most of the cast, and all of the crew, revisit the show's second season and share what they see for the next. The seventh One More Turn bonus feature production, a commentary on the show's second season, is now available. It has a runtime of 01h28m09s. OMT features the voice talents of Civilization strategy-centric podcast PolyCast regular co-hosts Daniel "DanQ" Quick and Stephanie "Makahlua" among others; Quick is also the dramedy's writer and creator.

A story set in the near future, OMT features geeks deal with non-geeky problems. One can follow the show on Twitter and check out its YouTube channel for caption capability. Selections of American music and soundtrack composer Kevin MacLeod's work is included throughout the series.

This production concludes One More Turn's sophomore season; renewed for a third season also to consist of thirteen episodes, it is to premiere this fall.
