Game of the Month 151: January 2014

Map: Large Size 75x120, flat

Barbarians: Raging Hordes (-0)
Restarts: Unknown
Victory: 1) Own the 7 Ancient Wonders of the World.
2) For each Ancient Wonder built by an AI, you must capture that Wonder AND build an additional wonder with a cost of at least 100 more shields.
Scoring: Date Completed.

Rules regarding the destruction of a Wonder:
1) If an AI civ/Barbs destroy an ancient wonder owned by another AI, the player can capture a (Renaissance or later) wonder built by the same civ, if such a wonder exists. If there is no such wonder, the civ must be destroyed.

2) If the player destroys an ancient wonder owned by the AI, he (or she) must destroy the entire civ that owned the wonder AND build another wonder in compensation (in addition to the wonder that must be built for losing the wonder in the first place), with a price of at least 100 extra shields.

3) If a wonder is destroyed after the player has owned it for at least 5 turns (if it is destroyed by a counterattack sooner than that, the player may choose to use rule 2 instead), the player must build 3 extra wonders in compensation. If a wonder is captured from the player but was recaptured instead of destroyed, the player need only build one additional wonder (of +100 shields) in compensation. Protect your wonders!

Game of the Month 150: December 2013

Game Settings:
Civilization: Russians (1 settler)
Map: Custom designed known 40x250 round. The world consists of one land piece which is mostly glacier and mountains. In between the two there is a river running on a strip of fertile land that runs from the South pole to the North pole. Human player, playing Russians, starts near the South pole. AI rivals start near the North pole. The strip is 5 tiles thick near the South and North poles and 1 tile thick in between

Special rules: First hut, regardless of when you pop it, must yield an archer. Save and reload as often as necessary to achieve this.

Game of the Month 149: November 2013










Game Settings:
Civilization: Russians (1 settler)
Map: Custom designed known 90x90 flat. The 3 larger islands you see near the north pole each house 2 rivals. The smaller one, at the north east corner, is uninhabitted and accessible by a trireme via a series of one-tile glaciers from Russian homeland which is at the south east corner of the world. The 3 rival homelands are not real islands; they are connected via a narrow strip of land to two large land masses around the equator. These two in turn are connected to an even bigger land mass near the south pole. There are a few small islands scattered around the world;
Difficulty: Emperor
Barbarians: Roving bands (-25)
Restarts: On
Victory by spaceship or conquest

Note:
our mission, should you want to accept it, is to reach fertile unsettled lands before your rivals get too far ahead of you. Your initial position is fit for just one city and there are no fertile lands anywhere near you. However, there are a series of one-tile glaciers that will allow your trireme to travel the high seas without getting lost.
