Factors that Affect Your Final Score
- Population (most important): One happy citizen is worth 2 points, while one content citizen only worth 1 point and angry citizens are worth nothing (I think).
- Difficulty Level: On Emperor level, 3000 points is about 300% and 4578 points is about 458%. If you play on a lower level, you will get a percent lower than 300% if your score is 3000; if you play on Deity, then you'll get higher than 300% for 3000 points.
- Barbarian Activity Level: Villages Only (-50 points), Roving Bands (-25 points), Restless Tribes (+0 points), Raging Hordes (+25 points).
- Spaceship: You can get up to 400 points with spaceship.

Civilization II: Game of the Month
Welcome to the Game of the Month (GOTM)! A feature fun for everyone who likes to play Civilization II.
This is what we do:
Every month we start a new game, save it and place it on this site. Then everyone downloads the saved game and plays it. When you're done, submit your results back to us and we'll put together the results of everyone who has participated. For each Game of the Month, medals will be awarded. The winner gets the gold medal, the second best gets the silver medal and the third best gets bronze. Get a medal once, and you'll be in the Hall of Fame forever.

On Modern Warfare in BTS
Flying Pig
This article is an attempt to make a guide to warfare in ages beyond Industrial, termed from now on ‘modern’. It is by no means finished, comments and suggestions are appreciated. Thanks are due to all of the people who have written articles on anything discusses herein.
War in the modern age is one hell of a lot more complex than any other era. States are more developed, weapons are more developed, and economies are more developed than at any other point in history. It follows, therefore, that your strategies must be more developed as well in order to win.
War by the Land
By now, land units are fairly diverse.

by Martin Roger |
CLASSIC CIV2 MODPACK ONLY March 1998 Special Note: This modpack does
not work with versions higher than 2.42--This patch can only be used as a
modpack. I did not test this patch using the Modpack Manager so there is
a possibility that it is not compatible. |

My StoryFinally, you should know that I personally reviewed 497 scenarios in 10 months.
Needless to say that is quite a feat. I want everyone to know that scenarios
lacking a readme file were tossed almost immediately. I simply cannot list
an anonymous scenario here because the point is to CREDIT the author’s
workmanship. Everyone got a fair shake and I played 246 scenarios "as time
permitted" (most of the time four or five games were started in a weekend
and I stayed up late Sunday night until 3 or 4 am. I may need to see a
psychiatrist for this addiction). Of those scenarios that grabbed my attention,
some were already nominated for the Scenario Hall of Fame. SHOF scenarios
will only appear in the Scenario Hall of Fame (it goes without saying that
these are the most excellent). And yes, sometimes I played them more than
once :)

In The Beginning
Back in 1996, the crew at Microprose started to notice a number of scenarios
popping up on the net that were quite good. They immediately began to assemble
a "Best of the Net" pool of scenarios that would later be featured on their
CiC, FW and MGE cds (not all versions received a Best of the Net dose of
scenarios by the way). In accordance with this tradition, I've decided to
continue to post the "Best of the Net" here at Civfanatics, so that others
may download them to their own "BestNet" directory. Find out what qualifies
as a Top 100 scenario
>>here<<.

Technical Specifications:
PARAMETERS:
What is a TOP 100 scenario? Essentially, it is a list of scenarios that could
be considered complete in just about every aspect of the game or really close
to it. A top 100 scenario doesn't stand for any "numeric ranking" but simply
means that it is "100 percent" there. This meaning translates to having a
special place on my hard drive, and it is allowed to reside there chained
to my Civ II folder forever.
A top 100 scenario, then, is one that is worth playing even after you've
downloaded 500 megs of scenarios. It means that these scenarios are so good
that when you want to play a good scenario, you need not look any further.
These scenarios deserve recognition for their outstanding quality. It is
my hope that everyone places these scenarios on their hard drive under "TOP100"
directory in their scenario folders. This is the only proper place for these
scenarios.

Welcome to the TOP 100 SCENARIOS section. You should know that the scenarios
included in the TOP 100 are not ranked in any way. In fact, Top 100 isn't
even a list of a hundred. The 100 stands for 100%--and that is exactly the
grade they get. I personally recommend these scenarios for play because I
have tried them I thought their play merited the "Best of the Net." Unlike
the SHOF scenarios, I personally select the TOP 100 SCENARIOS. If you have
authored or found a scenario NOT listed here that you think is TOP 100 material,
send it to me --see requirements
for submissions below. Check out the beginning of Top
100 Scenarios.

WHO IS NEXT?
Obviously, I can't pick everyone myself. There are a lot of players out there
that have their own ideas about who should be in this Hall of Fame. We need
to work together to make sure that everyone gets a fair shake. Send
me your candidates AND state their
contribution, reason or justification that qualifies them for the Hall of
Fame. Contributions to the hall of fame are always welcomed. Scenarios and
Modpacks do not need to be in English to be considered, but emails for
nominations have to be. Be advised, I will play their modpack, scenario or
creation just because I want to. |
