Very little about Civ4 was known prior to E3 2005, partly due to the change in publisher after Atari sold the Civilization franchise to Take2 Interactive in late 2004. Most of the early mentions of the game were in gaming magazines. But since E3 2005, there has been a flood of information and lots of screenshots from the game are now available online.
