PolyCast Transition 2019 Announcement

By | November 7, 2018

PolyCast As the strategic-centric PolyCast podcast approaches the conclusion to its twelfth season, so too does the tenure of one of its original panelists… and co-founder. Lead co-host Daniel “DanQ” Quick:

“Effective January 1, 2019, ownership of PolyCast and its four sibling shows is transferring to “CanusAlbinus”. This includes his taking my fourth spot on the titular show’s panel. To confirm then, I will have no involvement in its operations come this New Year. Know that I came to this decision as a result of changes in my personal life over the past year-and-a-half, not any wanting to disassociate myself from the show or distance myself from Civilization even. I do intend to remain available for guest appearances in the future and continue to participate in TurnCast recurringly though I will no longer be a regular player. Speaking of, while PolyCast is to continue production TurnCast will be going on hiatus until further notice.

As you may or may not be aware, I have been actively involved in owning and operating Civilization fan entites for the past 22 years… more than half of my life thus far! This is to mark the end of this journey. It began in 1996 when I took over the ‘Ultimate Civilization II Fansite’, leading to merging it with another to form ‘Apolyton Civilization Site’ two years later. It was there that I cultivated PolyCast with fellow Civ player Wouter “Locutus” Snijders and in 2009 left Apolyton where PolyCast has been my primary community focus here. It has been an honour and a privilege. Over this time I have formed many relationships with fellow gamers, some of which continue to this day and am thankful to call my friends. I hope I have done a service to the Civilization and greater gaming community through these interactions and endeavours.

When PolyCast launched in October of 2006, most people connected to the Internet did not know the term ‘podcast’ let alone listen to one. I am pleased to say that this is no longer the case, and moreover that PolyCast was amongst the first podcasts available and today stands as one of the longest in continuous operation. More than two hundred guests have contributed to nearing three-hundred-and-fifty hours of content running alongside four spin-offs, two of which also remain in active production. Over two thousand listeners regularly tune in and hundreds more on a recurring basis to be entertained and informed. Let’s dive into what comes next. Keep On Civ’in!”

PolyCast (PC) is a bi-weekly audio production recording live every other Saturday throughout the year, in an ongoing effort to give the Civilization community an interactive voice; sibling show ModCast focuses on Civ modding, TurnCast on Civ multiplay. PC regular co-hosts Stephanie “Makahlua”, Phil “TheMeInTeam” and Jason “MegaBearsFan” Grade are to remain on the show in these capacities. In the weeks ahead, more details on this transition will be forthcoming.
