Endless Legend free on Steam until May 23

By | May 18, 2024

As various outlets such as Polygon and GamingOnLinux have reported, the title “Endless Legend” is currently free on Steam until May 23. This includes the base game without DLC, which are currently discounted.

Endless Legend is a turn-based 4X game, so definitely something for us, and was released in 2014. The setting is not historical, but in a fantasy world, where you do the usual 4X things such as building cities, infrastructure and armies to conquer the world. The fantasy races have all their own unique play style, so this game definitely offers some variation. Get it now, and conquer a fantastic realm!

Will Civ7 be announced on June 7?

By | May 17, 2024

Our moderator EaglePursuit has closely checked the quarterly report of Take-Two games, and has noticed an interesting detail, which has been further supplemented by social media: On June 7 Take-Two will announce another title from the Take-Two core titles, which belongs to one of its most beloved franchises. While this could mean Civ7, the fan base of the Mafia games is expecting an announcement of Mafia 4 as well. If it is now not Civ7, then the earliest possible release will be in 2025. EpicStore: Five reasons why Civilization 6 is so enduringly popular

By | May 13, 2024

This article at the EpicGames Store is nearly 1 month old, but only popped up now on social media: “Five reasons why Civilization 6 is so enduringly popular”
While we are pretty sure that the CFC crowd can think of more than only 5 reasons, the article distills down some of the most important aspects, as you can see in the actual 5 points:

  • It’s epic and intense
  • Civ 6 satisfies a powerful emotional need
  • Longevity counts
  • It’s grown over the years
  • Play as you please

The 3rd point is probably the most controversial, as a series does not need longevity to become great, but more experience certainly helps during the development.
An excerpt:

It’s epic and intense

First and most obviously, it’s a seriously good game, presenting a coherent view of world history through complex and interlocking gameplay systems that simulate the fantasy of building an empire. No two play sessions are ever the same. Developer Firaxis Games’ carefully calibrated gameplay loops are designed to hook players and to keep them engaged without resorting to tiresome chores.

Sullla’s AI Survivor Season Eight

By | May 12, 2024

The incredibly popular CIV IV AI Survivor Season Eight Will Begin on 31 May 2024 at 1200 EST

What is AI survivor? It’s a CIV IV watching party on Twitch where we witness various AIs from one of the most enduring CIV titles duke it out on a Pangea map, max difficulty, no tech trading, no vassals, and Aggressive AI turned on.

Sullla randomly picks the AIs and also randomly generates each new map. He also goes into world builder mode to make sure nothing gets missed, commentating on the wacky events that seem to get nuttier and less predictable every year!

In Sullla’s own words, “Civ4 AI Survivor is a tournament competition pitting the 52 leaders in the game against one another in a battle for supremacy. Each season starts with a random draw, then proceeds to eliminate the AI leaders across 13 games before crowning an ultimate champion. Have you ever wondered what type of leaders perform the best in Civ4: warmongers or pacifists? Wonder builders or religious fanatics? Let’s find out! Who will survive?”
